Li Keqiang Meets with First Vice President of the State Council and the Council of Ministers Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez of Cuba

On the afternoon of September 2, 2015, Premier Li Keqiang met at the Fanghua Garden of the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse with Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, First Vice President of the State Council and the Council of Ministers of Cuba, who came to China to attend the commemorative activities marking the 70th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.

Li Keqiang expressed that the Chinese side always adheres to the policy of China-Cuba friendship, and firmly supports Cuba to take a development road fitting its national conditions. We stand ready to increase high-level exchanges, expand practical cooperation, and strengthen communication and coordination in international and regional affairs with Cuba, so as to push China-Cuba friendship and strategic cooperation to a higher level.

Li Keqiang pointed out that currently Latin American and Caribbean countries all are striving to accelerate industrialization and achieve diversification of economic development. Through the rapid process of industrialization over the 30 years since the reform and opening up, China has accumulated ample production capacity with highly cost-effective facilities meeting the environmental requirement, enabling itself to attune to the needs of developing countries. China and Cuba, and China and Latin America can integrate their development strategies at a higher level and launch cooperation of complementary advantages, so as to promote common development and achieve mutual benefit and win-win results.

Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez expressed that the Cuban side attaches great importance to the development of its relations with China, and stands ready to take the 55th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations as an opportunity to inherit the past, usher in the future, maintain high-level mutual visits, and enhance exchanges and mutual learning. The Cuban side has the willingness to convert the political friendship into the power for mutually beneficial cooperation and expand cooperation in processing and manufacturing, clean energy, biological pharmacy, informationalization, tourism, aviation and other fields, and welcomes the Chinese enterprises to invest and develop in Cuba. The Cuban side also stands ready to enhance communication and coordination with China on major international issues to safeguard common interests.
