On December 29, 2017, Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Secretary-General of the Liberal Democratic Party Toshihiro Nikai of Japan, who was in China for the seventh meeting of China-Japan ruling party exchange mechanism, and his delegation.

Wang Yi expressed that the visit paid by the delegation of Japanese ruling parties this time shows their positive attitude towards the relations with China, which is a good thing, and also the result of the efforts of Secretary-General Toshihiro Nikai and all friends. The positive attitude of the two ruling parties should be more embodied in the Japanese government's policy towards China.
