Why does the Chinese Government have no objection to non-governmental economic or cultural exchanges between Taiwan and foreign countries?
2004-08-03 15:56

Taking into consideration the needs of the economic development of Taiwan and the actual benefits of the Taiwan compatriots, the Chinese Government does not take objection to the non-governmental economic or cultural exchanges between Taiwan and foreign countries. Up to now, Taiwan has participated in more than 800 non-governmental international organizations, and carried out non-governmental economic, trade and cultural exchanges with many countries and regions. The story spread by the Taiwan authorities that the Chinese Government "has stifled the international living space of Taiwan" is untrue and groundless.
