2012-07-12

On July 12, 2012, Vice Foreign Minister Song Tao and Secretary of State at the Swiss Foreign Ministry Yves Rossier held political consultations between the two Foreign Ministries in Beijing.

Song made positive comments on China-Switzerland relations, saying that the Chinese government regards Switzerland as an important partner in Europe and is willing to work with the Swiss side to further enhance mutual understanding, respect each other's core interests and major concerns and expand pragmatic cooperation. He also urged both sides to strengthen cultural exchanges and keep closer consultations between the two Foreign Ministries so as to push the ties for new development.

Rossier agreed with Vice Foreign Minister Song’s views on bilateral relations, saying that during his current visit he personally felt China's tremendous achievements in the field of economic and social development. Switzerland attaches great importance to developing relations with China and is willing to further deepen bilateral cooperation in the fields of finance, economy, trade, science, education, tourism, justice and social security.

On the same day, Vice Foreign Minister Zhang Zhijun met with Rossier and his delegation.
