The everlasting songs are not enough to show the Chinese people's lofty sentiments and we wish the great motherland a bright future with the memorable evening. A grand evening gala to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China (PRC) was held at the Tian'anmen Square in Beijing on the evening of October 1, 2019. Leaders of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and state including Xi Jinping, Li Keqiang, Li Zhanshu, Wang Yang, Wang Huning, Zhao Leji, Han Zheng and Wang Qishan ascended the Tian'anmen Rostrum to celebrate the National Day night with people of all ethnic groups and all walks of life.
In the golden autumn season in Beijing, the streets are decorated with bright and colorful lanterns as well as blossomy flowers. The whole city is filled with festive atmosphere. From the Tian'anmen Square to the southern side of the Jinshui Bridge, a central performance area for the gala was set aside, with flowing light and color, and it was decorated by a large-scale landscape sculpture of a red ribbon, 7 "fireworks trees" with special effects, and large LED screens, and with the participation of more than 3,000 performers carrying light panels and people of all ethnic groups and all walks of life. In addition, part of Chang'an Avenue was divided into 10 sections where tens of thousands of people sang and danced in groups, extolling the PRC and the new era.
At 19:57, Xi Jinping and other leading comrades arrived at the Tian'anmen Rostrum, waving to the people at the Tian'anmen Square amid cheers.
At 20:00, Cai Qi, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Secretary of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee, announced the beginning of the event amid the song The East Is Red. From the east part of Jianguomen to west part of Fuxingmen, 70 columns of fireworks rocketed into the sky above the Tian'anmen Square. The fireworks displaying the number 70 showcased the warm praise of the Chinese people of all ethnic groups to the 70 anniversary of the PRC.
The event is divided into four chapters, consisting of the theme performance, a performance with local characteristics, the public performance and the fireworks show.
The gala began with the Ode to the Red Flag, with more than 3,000 performers carrying light panels portraying a huge national flag, and scenes of soldiers of the Chinese People's Liberation Army guarding the flag and children saluting the flag. Amid the song Ode to the Motherland, a 90-meter-long and 60–meter-wide giant national flag at the square was raised slowly. "Five-starred red flag, you are my pride; Five-starred red flag, I am proud of you." As more than 3,000 performers held fireworks forming the words "Long Live the Motherland", the crowd of all ethnic groups poured into the center of the Tian'anmen Square, where the audience burst into cheers "Long Live the Motherland".
The first chapter "We Walk on the Great Road" sang the song of 70 years' struggle of the PRC and showed the spirit of the Chinese people. The red ribbons were woven into a huge Chinese knot, and people expressed their love for the CPC and the country in the warmest way. The people of all ethnic groups sang and danced with joy, with songs and performances including Song of Praise from Mongolian ethnic group, Sing a Folk Song to the Party, and Golden Mountain in Beijing from Tibetan ethnic group, Youth Dance from Uyghur ethnic group, The Red Sun Shining Over the Frontiers from Korean ethnic group, Thanks a Lot from Zhuang ethnic group, and Flowers and Youth from Hui ethnic group. Amid Youth Waltz for Friendship, the sky above square was filled with fireworks and lights. From the snowy mountains to the desert, from the vast wilderness to the blue sea, the groups of PRC's construction rushed to the place where they are most needed.
The second chapter "On the Field of Hope" symbolized that the reform and opening up enriched the land of China. Classic songs from various periods since the founding of the PRC such as My Motherland in the 1950s, Flowers Blossoming Towards the Sun in the 1960s, Red Sun Never Sets in China in the 1970s … and Sunshine in the new era displayed folk culture and folk art. Accompanied by the melody Good News from Beijing to the Border Village, fireworks flew into the air. On the field of hope, we build a beautiful home with our hands. The clouds in the breeze turn into spring rain, sprinkling in the fertile field. It symbolizes that the hope of seedlings mushrooms, thrives, grows into towering trees, and bears numerous fruits. The fireworks trees presented a dynamic pattern of "happy homeland" full of childlike innocence.
The third chapter "Lead the New Era" showed the colorful dreams of the Chinese people in the new era and the spirit of the Chinese people of all ethnic groups pursuing their dreams for the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. Colorful windmills, whirling wheels of light, passionate dancing, and energetic running composed a picture of happiness in the new era. Music fireworks New Era Waltz, deduced the heroic and glorious new era. The flower buds blossomed out the beautiful vision of the Chinese dream; the petals symbolized the vitality of the new era, dancing lightly and then turning into images of pigeons. Along the trajectory that pigeons soared, the concentric circles of the shape of the earth appeared, and finally stopped at the graph symbolizing the Belt and Road. The concentric circles were transformed into a giant smiling face, which was later transformed into more than 3,000 smiling faces, forming the giant pattern "New Era". Performers lit fireworks and decorated the words "New Era" with bright colors. The fireworks trees displayed a dynamic pattern of peony blossoms, a symbol of prosperity and good luck. The crowd poured into this beautiful picture, composing a soul symphony of never forgetting the original aspiration. The Chinese people of all ethnic groups and all walks of life expressed their love for the motherland in the form of flash mob in the song My Motherland and Me, and their longings for a better future. All participants sang songs and danced to celebrate the birthday of the PRC.

Tonight, thousands of songs converged into an expression--ode to the motherland; Tonight, mountains and waters echoed with one voice--long live the people.
Xi Jinping and other leading comrades joined the crowd in singing Ode to the Motherland. "Fireworks trees" displayed a peacock pattern, with millions of fireworks flowers blooming above the Tian'anmen Square. At this moment, the atmosphere of the gala reached its climax.
At around 21:30, the evening gala concluded successfully. The excited people at the square were still immersed in joy and excitement…
