|President Khaltmaa Battulga of Mongolia Meets with Wang Yi|
On August 23, 2018, President Khaltmaa Battulga of Mongolia met with State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi at the Government Palace in Ulaanbaatar.
Khaltmaa Battulga asked Wang Yi to convey his warm greetings and best wishes to President Xi Jinping, and expressed that the Mongolian side admires China's development achievements, attaches importance to China's international status, and always regards its relations with China as a diplomatic priority. As the year of 2019 marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of Mongolia-China diplomatic relations, the Mongolian side stands ready to, together with the Chinese side, meticulously design and arrange commemorative activities, and take this opportunity to make bilateral friendship get deeper into the hearts of the two peoples, and to elevate bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership to new stages. With vast territory and abundant resources, Mongolia is at a critical stage of national development and construction. Mongolia is willing to further strengthen cooperation with the Chinese side in such fields as agriculture, animal husbandry, economy and trade, tourism, and infrastructure construction, in a bid to drive its own development and benefit the two peoples.
Wang Yi conveyed President Xi Jinping's warm greetings to Khaltmaa Battulga, and expressed that China and Mongolia are friendly neighboring countries linked by mountains and rivers. The Chinese side always respects Mongolia's independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity, and believes that the Mongolian side will also support the Chinese side's efforts in safeguarding its core interests. The Chinese side is willing to take the 70th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral diplomatic relations next year as an opportunity to lay out the blueprint for the future development of bilateral relations with the Mongolian side. The Mongolian side is one of the first countries to support the Belt and Road Initiative. The joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative has opened up broad prospects for the two countries to deepen cooperation. The Chinese side is willing to, together with the Mongolian side, strengthen connectivity, earnestly improve people's livelihood, promote people-to-people and cultural exchanges, and constantly advance trilateral cooperation among China, Mongolia and Russia under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative. The Chinese side supports the Mongolian side in constantly upgrading the level of its cooperation with the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. It is hoped that China and Mongolia will expedite the negotiations on the signing of the free trade agreement, so as to bring tangible benefits to the two peoples at an early date.
On the same day, Wang Yi also met with Chairman of the State Great Hural Miyegombo Enkhbold of Mongolia, and held talks with Minister of Foreign Affairs Damdin Tsogtbaatar of Mongolia.
