On July 19, 2018, President Xi Jinping and King Norodom Sihamoni of Cambodia exchanged congratulatory messages, celebrating the 60th anniversary of the establishment of China-Cambodia diplomatic relations.

President Xi Jinping pointed out in the congratulatory message that over the past 60 years, the two peoples have stood together through thick and thin and helped one another. People of both countries have supported and helped each other on issues concerning respective core interests, and forged a profound friendship. The China-Cambodia friendship, built upon the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence, has withstood the test of time and global vicissitudes and has grown stronger. We are pleased to see that China-Cambodia relations have achieved new substantial development in the context of the new era. You and I have achieved mutual visits, with the political mutual trust constantly enhanced and cooperation on the Belt and Road Initiative yielding remarkable results. Meanwhile, the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between China and Cambodia has been constantly enriched, bringing tangible benefits to both peoples and making positive contributions to the peaceful development of the region and the world at large. Attaching great importance to the development of China-Cambodia relations, I hope that both sides will continue to make joint efforts, carry forward the traditional friendship, deepen mutually beneficial cooperation and jointly build a China-Cambodia community of shared future of strategic significance, so as to achieve common development and prosperity.

Norodom Sihamoni expressed in the congratulatory message that the Cambodia-China friendship has withstood the test of time, and has been upgraded to a comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership. Cambodia firmly upholds the one-China policy. China is fully supportive of Cambodia choosing a development path that suits its national conditions. Both sides have worked side by side, which has not only safeguarded the common interests of both countries, but also made due contributions to peace, stability and prosperity of the region and the world at large. As the world's second largest economy, China is playing an increasingly important role in the world, bringing tangible benefits to countries around the globe including Cambodia.

On the same day, Premier Li Keqiang and Prime Minister Hun Sen also exchanged congratulatory messages. Li Keqiang expressed in the message that I paid a successful visit to Cambodia this January at the invitation of Your Excellency, and we reached new consensus on developing China-Cambodia relations and cooperation. The Chinese side will continue to firmly support Cambodia in following a development path suitable to its national situation. I am willing to make joint efforts with you to further consolidate the China-Cambodia traditional friendship and deepen practical cooperation, in a bid to elevate China-Cambodia comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership to new stages. Hun Sen noted in the message that he was glad to see that practical cooperation between both countries has been constantly expanded. China has become Cambodia's largest investor and top source of tourists. It is believed that activities marking the 60th anniversary of the establishment of Cambodia-China diplomatic relations will enhance the fraternal friendship and deepen the comprehensive strategic cooperation between the two countries.
