|Wang Yi Meets with Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO) Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus|
On July 17, 2018, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO) Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus in Beijing.
Wang Yi expressed that health is an important content of the global governance and development strategies of all the countries. The Chinese side is willing to align the Healthy Silk Road in the Belt and Road Initiative, Actions for Healthy Africa in the China-Africa cooperation and the building of a moderately prosperous society in all respects stated in the two centenary goals of China with the strategic plans of the WHO for the next 5 years, so as to support the development of global health cause and benefit the future generations.
Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus agreed on this and appreciated China’s consistent support for the global healthcare cause and the work of the WHO. He emphasized that the Belt and Road Initiative will widely benefit the countries and people along the route in the healthcare sector. The WHO is ready to work with the Chinese side to promote the realization of the goal of universal health and fitness.
