2018-05-16

On May 16, 2018, President Xi Jinping sent a message to President Joko Widodo of Indonesia, expressing condolences over the terrorist attack in Indonesia.

Xi Jinping expressed that I was shocked to learn about the terrorist attack in the city of Surabaya in East Java province of Indonesia. On behalf of the Chinese government and people and in my own name, I would like to offer deep condolences to the innocent victims of the attack, as well as extend sincere sympathies to the innocent injured and the bereaved families.

Terrorism is the common enemy of mankind. China firmly opposes all forms of terrorism, and stands ready to work together with the international community, including Indonesia, to jointly combat terrorism and safeguard peace and stability in the region and the world at large.
