|Wang Yi Holds Telephone Talks with Foreign Minister Heiko Maas of Germany|
On May 15, 2018, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi held telephone talks at request with Foreign Minister Heiko Maas of Germany.
Wang Yi expressed that China-Germany relations enjoy sound development with close high-level exchanges, which plays an important leading role in the development of bilateral relations. Under the current situation, it is necessary for China and Germany, as all-round strategic partners, to enhance strategic communication, and jointly safeguard world peace and stability as well as the free and open multilateral trade system.
Heiko Maas noted that Germany stands ready to continue strengthening bilateral high-level exchanges, and reinforce coordination on topics of common interest, so as to promote bilateral relations for constant and positive progress.
Both sides mainly exchanged views on the Iranian nuclear issue, and held that the two sides should jointly safeguard the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action on the Iranian nuclear issue, safeguard international rules, and maintain regional peace and stability. Both sides agreed to keep communication with all parties in this regard.
