|Li Keqiang Meets with President Moon Jae-in of the ROK|
On the afternoon of December 15, 2017, Premier Li Keqiang met at the Great Hall of the People with President Moon Jae-in of the Republic of Korea (ROK), who was in China for a state visit.
Li Keqiang expressed that China and the ROK are close neighbors. The friendly cooperation has become a mainstream of bilateral relations since the establishment of diplomatic relations 25 years ago. President Xi Jinping held talks with Mr. President yesterday, reaching a lot of important consensus and making plans for the development of China-ROK relations. China is willing to work for the shared goal with the ROK, further enhance mutual trust, and push forward the proper settlement of sensitive issues to make bilateral relations start again along the right track, promote well-being of the two peoples and safeguard regional peace and stability.
Li Keqiang pointed out that China and the ROK share various cooperation fields and close people-to-people and cultural exchanges, forming a situation featuring mutual benefit and win-win results. In the next period, the two sides need to seize opportunities to consolidate the improvement momentum of turnabout of bilateral relations. The two sides should enhance the alignment of respective development strategies, start the second phase of the negotiations of a bilateral free trade agreement (FTA) at an appropriate time, continue to well host the “China-ROK Innovation and Entrepreneurship Park,” expand financial cooperation and cooperation in merging areas including artificial intelligence, 5G, big data, create sound business environment for enterprises of both countries to invest and develop business in each other, and tighten the bond of people-to-people and cultural exchanges, so as to consolidate the public opinion foundation for steady and further development of China-ROK relations.
Moon Jae-in expressed that since the establishment of diplomatic relations 25 years ago, bilateral relations have enjoyed rapid development and yielded outstanding results. The ROK is ready to, together with China, speed up the improvement and development of bilateral relations, expand practical cooperation in such areas as innovation industry, financial investment, agriculture, third-party market, environment protection and tourism, and launch the second phase of the negotiations of FTA at an early date, cement people-to-people and cultural exchanges, and strive to build a partnership for the next 25 years, in a bid to make new contributions to promoting common development of both countries and regional peace and prosperity.
