|Wang Yi: China Supports Myanmar's Domestic Peace Process|
On November 19, 2017 local time, Foreign Minister Wang Yi expressed that China supports Myanmar's domestic peace process when jointly meeting the press with State Counsellor and Foreign Minister Aung San Suu Kyi of Myanmar in Nay Pyi Taw.
Wang Yi said that China and Myanmar share a common border of more than 2,000 kilometers. Linked by mountains and rivers, the two countries are friendly close neighbors that go through thick and thin together and a community of shared destiny. China hopes for the smooth promotion of Myanmar's peace progress more than any other countries. China takes a clear stance that the country consistently respects sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Myanmar. China expects that the Myanmar government could adhere to the "Panglong Spirit", and conduct friendly negotiation with ethnic armed groups to reach political consensus featuring national unity and high degree of autonomy under the framework of the Constitution of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, in a bid to achieve the sustainable peace and lasting stability in northern Myanmar. China is willing to, together with Myanmar, continuously well give play to the role of China-Myanmar 2+2 High-level Consultations between Foreign Ministries and Defence Ministries and other mechanisms, and maintain communication and enhance cooperation in controlling situation in northern Myanmar and well safeguarding stability in the border region.
