On November 11, 2017 local time, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and President Xi Jinping met with Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc of Vietnam at the administrative center of Da Nang.

When Xi Jinping arrived at the administrative center of Da Nang, Nguyen Xuan Phuc welcomed him outside the gate. The guard of honor lined up on both sides of the red carpet.

Xi Jinping extended condolences over the heavy casualties and property loss caused by severe Typhoon disaster in southern and central Vietnam. Xi Jinping stressed that under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) and the Vietnamese government, people in the affected areas will certainly be able to overcome the disaster and resume normal work and life as soon as possible. China will support Vietnam's rescue and relief efforts.

Xi Jinping pointed out that I will fly to Hanoi tomorrow to start the state visit to Vietnam. At present, China-Vietnam relations maintain a sound development momentum. Both sides have witnessed frequent high-level mutual visits, deepened practical cooperation, enjoyed active people-to-people and cultural exchanges and intensified multilateral coordination. China attaches high importance to its relations with Vietnam. I expect to exchange in-depth views on relations between the two parties and the two countries as well as issues of common concern with leaders and comrades of Vietnam via the visit, in a bid to promote China-Vietnam comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership to enter a new development stage.

Xi Jinping stressed that the international and regional patterns are undergoing profound and complicated changes, while the reform and development of China and Vietnam are also at a crucial period. The two sides need to expand the breadth and depth of bilateral comprehensive strategic cooperation and realize lasting peace and stability of the two socialist countries led by Communist Parties. China and Vietnam should maintain high-level contacts, strengthen strategic communication, and deepen experience sharing on party governance and state administration. The two countries need to speed up the alignment of the construction of the "Belt and Road" and "Two Corridors and One Economic Circle", and deepen practical cooperation in such areas as economy and trade, finance, production capacity and infrastructure construction and advance construction of major projects, so as to achieve mutual benefit and win-win results. Xi Jinping called for more dynamic people-to-people and cultural exchanges to promote people-to-people connectivity, making bilateral friendship get deeper into the hearts of the people. Both sides should properly handle differences and ensure the relations between the two parties and the two countries always move forward along the right direction.

Nguyen Xuan Phuc extended warm congratulations on the establishment of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era as the party's guiding principle during the 19th CPC National Congress and on Comrade Xi Jinping's re-election as General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee. He thanked General Secretary Xi Jinping for choosing Vietnam as his first overseas destination after the 19th CPC National Congress. Vietnam cherishes the traditional friendship with China and is happy to see the success of China's economic and social development, which Vietnam views as great achievements of socialist construction. To upgrade Vietnam-China relations is the priority of the foreign policy adopted by the CPV and the Vietnamese government. Vietnam thanks China's assistance, devotes to elevating the level of bilateral cooperation, hopes to enhance cooperation with China in such fields as investment, trade, production capacity, science and technology, agriculture, electricity, infrastructure construction and cross-border economic cooperation zones, and well implement the docking of "Two Corridors and One Economic Circle" with the "Belt and Road", and intensify people-to-people and cultural exchanges in local areas, tourism, culture and other fields.
