Noting that this year is of special significance to both China and Algeria, Wang Yi said, the Chinese people always bear in mind the significant contribution made by Algeria 50 years ago to the restoration of New China's lawful seat in the United Nations. In the new situation, China is willing to carry forward the traditional friendship with Algeria, turn political mutual trust into the momentum of practical cooperation, and push for new and greater development of mutually beneficial cooperation between the two sides.
Wang Yi said, Chinese vaccines have been officially put into production in Algeria, marking the localized production of vaccines in one more African country. China is willing to continuously strengthen cooperation with Algeria in COVID-19 response and help Algeria defeat the pandemic at an early date.
Lamamra expressed his congratulations to China and the host country Senegal in the capacity of the chairmanship of the FOCAC on the two's careful preparation and successful organization of the ministerial conference. The important speech delivered by President Xi Jinping at the opening ceremony will go down in the glorious history of Africa-China cooperation. The major initiatives announced by President Xi Jinping, such as the provision of one billion doses of COVID-19 vaccines to Africa, underline the spirit of Africa-China solidarity and will be used by Africa and China as a powerful weapon to triumph over the pandemic together.
Lamamra said, with the friendship between Algeria and China dating back to ancient times, the two countries enjoy a great and close relationship. Algeria is a witness to the solidarity between Africa and China and the mutual assistance to each other, and has benefited a lot from Africa-China cooperation. Algeria is firmly committed to Africa-China friendship and will work with China to translate the firm political will for Africa-China and Algeria-China cooperation into a strong impetus.
The two sides also exchanged views on strengthening China's relations with Arab countries. Wang Yi congratulated Algeria on taking over the rotating presidency of the League of Arab States next year, saying that China supports Algeria in playing a greater role in international and regional affairs and is willing to step up solidarity and cooperation with Algeria to address common challenges. Noting that Algeria and China are like-minded in international affairs, Lamamra said, Algeria is willing to enhance coordination with China to jointly inject new momentum into the development of Arab relations with China.
