On August 31, 2015, President Xi Jinping met at the Great Hall of the People with King Norodom Sihamoni of Cambodia.

Xi Jinping extended welcome to Norodom Sihamoni for his attendance of the commemorations marking the 70th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and World Anti-Fascist War. Xi Jinping noted that China and Cambodia, as friendly neighbors to each other, are as close as brothers. In the over past half century since the establishment of bilateral diplomatic relations, the China-Cambodia friendship, which was elaborately forged and carefully nurtured by the leaders of the two nations, has withstood the test of times and changes in the international situation and becomes firmer as time goes by. The two countries have established all-round strategic cooperative partnership, witnessed frequent high-level exchanges, constantly expanded cooperation in various areas and maintained close coordination and cooperation in global and regional affairs. It is in line with the fundamental interests and common aspirations of the two peoples to deepen China-Cambodia all-round strategic cooperative partnership. China cherishes its traditional friendship with Cambodia, and is ready to maintain high-level contacts with the country in various forms, and boost cooperation in key areas, so as to push China-Cambodia relations for constant and in-depth development.

Norodom Sihamoni expressed that he is glad to attend the commemorations marking the 70th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and World Anti-Fascist War in China. The Cambodia-China traditional friendship is forged by the older generations of the leaders of the two nations. In the new era, Cambodia will continue to inherit and carry forward the traditional friendship, intensify bilateral high-level exchanges and deepen cooperation in various fields.
