Premier Wen Jiabao Has a Phone Conversation with Indian Prime Minister

On June 27, 2003, Indian Prime Minister Vajpayee, who is about to conclude his visit to China, called Premier Wen Jiabao from Shanghai. Vajpayee said that he was accorded warm reception from the Chinese government and people during his visit to China, and expressed deep gratitude. In the past few days, he and Chinese leaders made some important decisions, laying a solid foundation for the long-term development of India-China development.

Wen said that Prime Minister Vajpayee’s visit is fruitful and a success. The Declaration on Principles for Relations and Comprehensive Cooperation Between the People's Republic of China and the Republic of India signed between them is a guiding document of historical importance, and has received welcome from the two peoples and universal acclaim from the international community. The Chinese side would like to work with the Indian side to abide by the principles set by the Declaration and implement the tasks, bring bilateral good-neighborly and friendly relations and mutually beneficial cooperation to a new level, and jointly writing a new chapter for China-India friendship.
