On the night of May 26, 2003, Chinese State Councillor Tang Jiaxuan, who is accompanying President Hu Jintao on his state visit to Russia, met with Russian Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov. Tang and Ivanov exchanged views on Sino-Russian relations, the upcoming third Summit Meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the current international situation.

Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing was present at the meeting.
