Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing and US Secretary of State Powell Talk on Phone

On May 21, Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing and US Secretary of State Colin Powell exchanged views on Iraq's post-war reconstruction during a phone conversation. Li stressed that the Iraq issue should be handled in line with the tenet and principles of the United Nations Charter.

He also thanked the US government and people for their support in the Chinese people's fight against severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS).
