Foreign Ministry Spokesperson on Suicide Bombing in Tel Aviv
2003-01-06 00:00

Q: The suicide bombing happened in Tel Aviv on January 5 left more than 20 dead and over 70 injured. It was reported that among the victims, there are several Chinese people. What is your comment?

A: On January 5, two suicide bombings happened in Tel Aviv, leaving many innocent civilians dead and injured, including several Chinese workers. The Chinese Government strongly condemned this incident. China has always opposed to trading violence for violence. We urge Israel side to exercise maximum restraint to avoid further escalation of violence.

The Chinese Government is greatly concerned about the personal safety of the Chinese citizens in Israel. The Chinese Embassy in Israel is making full efforts to deal with the matters regarding the Chinese workers injured in the bombing. The details are being verified.
