Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Jiang Yu's Remarks on the Iranian Nuclear Issue
2010-04-29 13:33

Q: It's known that Chinese and French Presidents have exchanged views on the Iranian nuclear issue during their talk. What's China's position on that?

A: China has all along advocated a peaceful resolution of the Iranian nuclear issue through dialogue and regards dialogue and negotiation as the best way to resolve the issue. At the same time, we do not oppose the 'dual-track' strategy. As a member of the six-nation mechanism on the Iranian nuclear issue, China has participated with a constructive attitude in the discussions on a diplomatic settlement of the Iranian nuclear issue and the relevant proposal raised by the United States. China' goal is to uphold the international nuclear non-proliferation regime and safeguard peace and stability in the Middle East. We expect relevant actions to promote the proper settlement of the Iranian nuclear issue through dialogue and negotiation.
